Rollin' Justin is a humanoid robot developed by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) for research in service robotics, particularly for household tasks and assisting astronauts in space. Standing at 1.91 meters tall and weighing approximately 200 kg, it features 51 degrees of freedom, including 8 in the platform, 2×7 in the arms, 2×12 in the hands, 2 in the neck, and 3 in the torso. The robot has a nominal load capacity of 20 kg and can operate autonomously for over 60 minutes. Its design includes torque sensors in nearly all joints, balance sensors (IMU), stereo cameras, and RGB-D cameras, enabling compliant, hierarchical whole-body control and semi-autonomy for both terrestrial and extraterrestrial applications.
